At least 17 children have died in a fire at an Islamic school in Zamfara state, northern Nigeria.
The fire, believed to have started in a nearby house, spread to the school while the children, aged 10-16, were sleeping. Several others were injured and taken to local health centers.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire and have vowed to inspect other schools for fire safety. The victims were buried by the community on Wednesday.
