Rescue teams in Valencia are searching underground garages and a mall car park in Aldaia for victims feared trapped after last week’s catastrophic floods. Although the initial search of 50 vehicles found no bodies, much of the site remains submerged. Heavy rains continue to hit Catalonia, with flights disrupted and roads flooded.
The death toll has reached 217, including a missing British couple. Local anger over a lack of warning sparked protests during visits from King Felipe VI and Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez. The government has deployed an additional 2,500 troops and extended travel restrictions as the recovery effort intensifies.
