Cell Insurance Company is once again partnering with the Nedbank Tour de Great Dyke, highlighting its commitment to community engagement, social responsibility, and sustainable development along Zimbabwe’s mineral-rich Great Dyke corridor.

Speaking to the Great Dyke News Group, Marketing Manager Chamunorwa Mhembere emphasized that the partnership aligns with the company’s strategic ESG objectives, particularly in the social and governance dimensions.

“Our products and services are specifically tailored for the mining sector, which is heavily concentrated along the Great Dyke. Events like the Tour de Great Dyke allow us to be closer to the communities that host these mining companies, understand their needs, and provide solutions that make a real difference,” Mhembere said.

He noted that community engagement is at the core of Cell Insurance’s strategy, adding that the company is excited about initiatives that allow it to give back in meaningful ways. The Nedbank Tour de Great Dyke not only fosters business relationships but also contributes to the well-being and development of local communities, particularly through initiatives supporting education for gifted but underprivileged children.

“Part of the event’s proceeds go directly towards enabling talented children to access education and pursue careers of their choice,” Mhembere explained. “This is exactly the kind of impact that ESG-focused companies should aspire to — supporting long-term social development while also strengthening governance through transparent and accountable partnerships.”

The Tour de Great Dyke, now in its 8th year, has grown beyond a cycling event to become a platform for social investment, corporate responsibility, and sustainable development. By partnering with such initiatives, companies like Cell Insurance demonstrate how private sector involvement can complement national efforts in advancing education, community development, and responsible business practices along the Great Dyke.

Mhembere encouraged other companies and stakeholders to engage in the initiative, stressing that collaborative efforts between business and communities are key to building resilient and prosperous local economies.

“This is not just a sponsorship; it’s about being part of a sustainable ecosystem that benefits both the business and the communities in which we operate,” he said.

With Cell Insurance returning for its second consecutive year, the partnership serves as a model for integrating corporate social responsibility with business objectives, showcasing how ESG principles can be embedded in day-to-day operations while delivering tangible benefits to society.
