ABC News has agreed to donate $15 million to a presidential foundation and museum established by President-elect Donald Trump as part of a defamation settlement.
The lawsuit stemmed from an episode of ABC’s ‘This Week’ show in March 2024, where anchor George Stephanopoulos stated that Trump had been found liable for rape.
The network also agreed to pay $1 million in legal expenses for Trump. An editor’s note was issued expressing regret for the statements made on air.
Trump had been found civilly liable for sexually abusing columnist E. Jean Carroll in previous court rulings, but denied any wrongdoing, labeling the cases as politically motivated.
