Highway Heist: Armed Robbers Swipe $21,900 on Harare-Masvingo Road
The Zimbabwe Republic Police have reported a brazen armed robbery on the Harare-Masvingo highway near Chicken Slice in Mvuma, resulting in a significant theft. The incident occurred on June 10, 2024, at around 10:00 PM. According to ZRP Midlands spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko, Nesbeth Ncube, a 41-year-old regional manager for a stock feeds company in Masvingo, fell victim to the crime.
Ncube was traveling from Nyika to Harare when he boarded a vehicle with five male occupants at Croco Motors in Masvingo. Shortly after passing Fairfields, one of the passengers produced a knife and demanded Ncube's cell phone. Another passenger then brandished a pistol and demanded Ncubeās traveling bag, which contained $21,900 in cash. The robbers eventually pushed Ncube out of the vehicle near Chicken Slice in Mvuma after slowing down.
The police are actively seeking information that could lead to the arrest of the suspects.
