The Parliamentary portfolio committee says the export of unprocessed minerals is a positive step in the right direction as increased value will be realized through beneficiation and value addition.
Speaking to Great dyke news, the committee’s chairperson Honorable Edmud Mkaratigwa said the move creates a sense of urgency on the part of government.
He also said that since production will be done locally, there is a need to ensure market forces are given chance to determine who one prefer to sell to.
The government recently introduced a statutory instrument banning exports of raw or unprocessed lithium amid a rush of lithium in the country.
