The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has launched a manhunt for suspects linked to three separate murders that rocked Midlands Province between November 15 and 16, 2024. The gruesome killings, which occurred in Mvuma and Mkoba, have left communities in shock and mourning.

Speaking to Great Dyke News, ZRP Midlands spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko said in the first case, Victor Chivese (24) of Mkoba 13, Gweru, was savagely attacked on November 16 while drinking at Shumba Night Club, Mkoba 6 Business Centre.

A misunderstanding with four men escalated into a fatal assault. Evidence Tapiwa (29) of Mkoba 4, Gweru, Farai Magejani (27) of Chief Budzi’s Village Musoro in Bikita, and two others—identified only as Tawanda Siyagumba and Samuel Sithole—allegedly ganged up on Chivese, beating him and stabbing him with a knife. He succumbed to his injuries shortly after being rushed to Gweru Provincial Hospital.

Inspector Mahoko said the second murder occurred on November 15 in the Driefontein area, where Casper Mhari lost his life following a dispute over a sex worker. It is alleged that Marshal Shiri (33) of Nyumbi 1 Village struck Mhari three times on the head with a log, leaving him unconscious. Mhari was rushed to Muonde Hospital but later died.

The third and most chilling case involved the discovery of the mutilated body of 14-year-old Ronald Dehwe in a bush near Village 14, Mavise, Mvuma. The body, found by a local herder searching for goats, was missing its eyes, ears, and private parts, raising fears of a ritual killing.

ZRP has confirmed the arrests of Tapiwa and Magejani in connection with Chivese’s murder, while Shiri, Siyagumba, and Sithole remain on the run. Investigators are also working to identify suspects in Dehwe’s suspected ritual murder.

“We appeal to the public to assist us in locating the fugitives and uncovering those behind the heinous killing of Ronald Dehwe,” said a ZRP spokesperson.

The victims’ bodies are currently at Gweru Provincial, Driefontein, and Mvuma hospital mortuaries, awaiting post-mortem examinations.

Anyone with information is urged to contact their nearest police station immediately.
