The mayor of Zimbabwe’s capital Harare Jacob Mafume has been arrested over corruption charges, GreatDykeNews24 reports.
Mafume replaced former Harare Mayor Herbert Gomba who was arrested recently on allegations involving land scams and abuse of office as a public officer.
According to the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Nick Mangwana, Mafume is currently being held at Rhodesville Police Station.
“Harare Mayor @JMafume has been arrested on allegations of corruption. He is currently being held at Rhodesville Police Station,” he said.
