On Saturday the health ministry aimed at curtailing a possible third wave of the pandemic having noted that in the previous week Zimbabwe recorded 596 new cases and 26 deaths, a figure attributed to complacency at workplaces and in the communities.

Health Minister Vice President Constantino Chiwenga implored operators to adhere to recommended numbers and warned businesses that they face closure if they fail to abide.
As at 13 June 2021, Zimbabwe had 39 959 confirmed cases, including 37 004 recoveries and 1 632 deaths. To date, a total of 693 147 people have been vaccinated against COVID-19.
