The Consumer Council of Zimbabwe Committee says the mushrooming of informal traders in the country’s urban centres is negatively affecting retailers.
Speaking to Great Dyke News, CCZ Acting Executive Director Mrs Rosemary Mpofu said informal traders that sell goods next to the supermarkets and other retail outlets at cheap prices are able to do so because they do not incur rental or tax expenses.
She said the authorities may need to protect the formal trade, which now faces unfair competition.
