Norest Muyeye, 29, from Chegutu, has been sentenced to 48 months in prison by the Kadoma Magistrates’ Court for unlawfully cultivating 88 plants of dagga without a permit.

On May 16, 2024, police received a tip-off about the illegal cultivation at Muyeye’s residence. Acting on this information, officers visited the property, where Muyeye led them to his garden. There, they discovered 88 dagga plants, each measuring 1.5 meters in height. Muyeye was immediately arrested, and the plants were uprooted and presented as evidence in court.

Muyeye faced charges of unlawful dealing with dangerous drugs. The court sentenced him to 60 months in prison, with 12 months suspended, resulting in an effective 48-month sentence.
