Minister of Mines and Mining Development Winston Chitando has warned that there is no room in Zimbabwe’s mining sector for players who disregard the principles of responsible mining.

Speaking at the 2025 Mine Entra Expo in Bulawayo, running under the theme “Beyond Extraction: Sustaining the Future of Mining,” Minister Chitando said the government’s Responsible Mining Initiative will ensure strict compliance with environmental and operational standards.

He outlined that the programme will roll out in two phases, with Phase One focused on the enforcement of existing laws and regulations, to promote sustainable mining practices that protect both communities and the environment.

Chitando emphasized that responsible mining was key to unlocking long-term growth and maintaining investor confidence in the sector.

Now in its 27th edition, Mine Entra has drawn over 240 exhibitors from the mining, engineering, transport, and construction sectors, serving as a key platform for collaboration, innovation, and policy dialogue in Zimbabwe’s mining industry.
