President Emmerson Mnangagwa has urged young people to harness the transformative power of technology to drive innovation, create wealth, and generate employment opportunities.

Speaking at the National Youth Day celebrations at ZITF Hall 4 in Bulawayo, he emphasized the role of youth in shaping Zimbabwe’s future through entrepreneurship and digital advancements.

Running under the theme “Empowering the Youth, Securing the Future,” the event highlighted the government’s commitment to fostering a tech-driven economy led by the next generation. Zimbabwean youths can harness transformative technologies like mobile apps, high-speed internet (e.g., Starlink), robotics, renewable energy solutions (e.g., solar innovations), agricultural tech (e.g., drones and precision farming), e-learning platforms, and biotechnology to drive personal and societal progress.

With a young population, growing digital access, and government support through initiatives like digital skills training, they can innovate in areas such as education, agriculture, and entrepreneurship, despite challenges like rural electricity shortages and internet costs. By tapping into these tools—supported by innovation hubs and partnerships—they can address local needs, create opportunities, and contribute to Zimbabwe’s development.
