Buy Zimbabwe Chairman Munyaradzi Hwengwere has reminded Zimbabweans that buying foreign products ahead of local ones in supermarkets has direct negative implications on the recovery of the local economy.

Speaking to Great Dyke News Mr Hwengwere said the fact that imported products are cheaper may result from their quality compared to the organic local products.

He also reminded consumers that their buying choice has a direct impact on issues like employment.

Yesterday the Small to Medium Millers Association of Zimbabwe said many local producers and manufacturers are struggling to stay afloat because of the competition of foreign imports.

Some companies have reportedly suspended operations after a flood of cheap imported mealie-meal pushed them to the brink.
