Following a tense 1-1 draw against Yadah at Rufaro Stadium on Thursday, Dynamos head coach Genesis Mangombe expressed deep concern over his team’s inability to convert scoring opportunities into goals.
In a candid post-match interview, Mangombe lamented the missed chances that prevented Dynamos from securing a victory.
“Some of the tactics won’t work if we cannot execute some of the easy chances we are creating because they are difficult to miss than to score,” Mangombe remarked, highlighting the frustration over the team’s profligacy in front of goal.
Despite his efforts to position his players for scoring opportunities, Mangombe admitted that the execution in crucial moments was lacking. “For my job as a coach, we are trying to do our best so that the player gets to the position of scoring. But now the execution is new,” he explained, acknowledging the team’s struggle to finish chances effectively.
“As a striker, you need to have that instinct. I don’t know what’s happening. Maybe they will gel as time goes on,” Mangombe pondered, hinting at a need for his players to regain their sharpness in front of goal as the season progresses.
Reflecting on Dynamos’ performance against Yadah and recent matches, Mangombe expressed his worry over the team’s scoring form. “Now I’m worried about how we need to convert the chances,” he admitted, underscoring the importance of improving their finishing to achieve better results in upcoming fixtures.
