The Evangelical Lutheran Church in Zimbabwe (ELCZ) Vashandiri Training Centre has joined hands with the Nedbank Tour de Great Dyke, highlighting shared values of community development, education, and wellness.
Speaking to Great Dyke News, Principal Jane Siwela said the partnership aligns with the Centre’s mission to prioritize the wellbeing of the individuals it trains and mentors. “We see the Nedbank Tour de Great Dyke as a platform to preach our gospel of human development to the Great Dyke community,” she explained.
The Vashandiri Training Centre offers vocational courses in Computer Literacy, Clothing and Textile, Tourism and Hospitality, and other skills development programmes aimed at equipping trainees with practical abilities for society.
The Nedbank Tour de Great Dyke, scheduled for 6–8 November 2025, is a three-day cycling event covering a 328-kilometer route from Selous to Zvishavane. The event promotes wellness, community development, and economic opportunities along Zimbabwe’s Great Dyke geological formation, attracting hundreds of cyclists, including teams from major mining companies.

Proceeds from the race go to the Gifted Children Foundation, which supports underprivileged children in the region with educational assistance.
Siwela emphasized that partnerships like this demonstrate how sports and community engagement can be used to uplift local communities, foster education, and inspire young people to pursue both personal and professional growth.
The ELCZ Vashandiri Training Centre will also have representatives along the race route to engage with the community and showcase its programmes to residents and participants.
