The newcomer is not even fully match fit yet he came in the second half and put in an accomplished show on his first start for FC Platinum in the CAF Confederation cup 1st leg play-off one nil loss to ASC Jaraaf in Harare.

Innocent Mucheneka could have asked for a better debut by helping his new club to a win but says he was satisfied with his performance in general.

The former Caps United and Chicken Inn midfielder joined Pure Platinum Play in January .

Mucheneka had gone for almost a year without playing and has gradually been making his way back to full fitness.

Indeed even ahead of last weekend’s CAF Confed cup match in Harare, FC Platinum head coach Norman Mapeza had revealed the midfield playmaker was not ready for a full 90 minutes.

That proved the case as Mucheneka started off brightly and made an immediate impact when introduced at halftime , but as the game wore on his energy levels dropped .

By and large it was certainly a composed, classy performance from Mucheneka, who showed the importance of having a cool head shielding the defence and making play from an advanced central midfield position.

FC Platinum fans were very pleased with what the former Caps United player brought to the Pure Play engine room.

“You see the experience that Mucheneka has. Mucheneka was very calm on the ball, he [gave] options, he quietened the game, which was important,” Joe Verenga an avid club fan posted on Fc Platinum.net .

Commenting on his debut , the 27 -year-old Mucheneka was happy with his contribution although he has promised there is still more to come.

“It feels good to be start well for my new club but more importantly, it would have been great to have started on a winning note “, he said.

“I haven’t played competitive football in a while so obviously my match fitness for the competitive games is not where I want it but it’s getting there.

“We were disappointed with the result on Sunday and I want to give credit to my teammates for the hard work and focus as we prepare for today’s game , but we are well aware of the fact that the tie isn’t over yet, which is why we have not drowned ourselves in sorrow”.

“On Friday we took part in a video assessment of the one nil loss to ASC Jaraaf in Harare and we all came out of the video room galvanised that a win is possible on Sunday”.

FC Platinum yesterday held their final training session at the match venue Stade Lat Dior.

Sights and scenes from the final training sessions point to a couple of changes in the starting eleven and more importantly the guys were all fired up for the big game on Sunday.
