Kenya will no longer require prior travel authorization for citizens of most African countries, except Somalia and Libya, citing security concerns.
The move follows criticism of the Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) system, introduced last year as a replacement for visas but viewed as a barrier to free movement. Under the new policy, visitors can stay visa-free for up to two months, while East African Community (EAC) members can stay for six months.
The government aims to boost regional integration, tourism, and trade. Details on implementation are expected within a week.
