Kenyan police have arrested 29-year-old John Kiama Wambua after he was caught carrying the body parts of his 19-year-old wife, Joy Fridah Munani, in his backpack in Huruma, east of Nairobi.
Officers found the gruesome discovery during a routine search just before dawn. Wambua, reportedly “unperturbed” by the find, led police to his home, where more body parts, a knife, and blood-soaked clothes were found. He has been charged with murder.
Kenya has seen a rise in femicide, with at least 97 women murdered between August and October 2024.
