Kenya’s Beatrice Chebet Wins Olympic Gold in Women’s 5,000m.

Kenya’s Beatrice Chebet clinched gold in the women’s 5,000 meters at Paris 2024 with a time of 14:28.56. Faith Kipyegon, initially disqualified for a clash with Ethiopia’s Gudaf Tsegay, was reinstated to secure silver after a successful appeal.


Chebet and Kipyegon celebrated together despite the temporary disqualification. Sifan Hassan of the Netherlands, initially upgraded to silver, accepted her final bronze medal. Mary Moraa added to Kenya’s medal tally with bronze in the women’s 800m.

Kipyegon, now holding a disciplinary yellow card, will compete in the women’s 1500m heats, aiming for her third consecutive Olympic gold.
