Kwekwe Municipality Speaks On Working Under Covid-19 Lockdown

The Kwekwe Municipality says the currently covid-19 lockdown has not interrupted its service delivery and revenue collection activities.

Kwekwe Mayor Councillor Angeline Kasipo said the various departments have drawn plans to continue working and delivering on service while observing the necessary covid-19 protocols.

A spike in new Covid-19 infections in Kwekwe including the highly contagious B.1.617 variant first detected in India forced the government to extend the city’s localized lockdown by two more weeks.

As at 17 June 2021, Zimbabwe had 40 927 confirmed cases, including 37 109 recoveries and 1647 deaths. To date, a total of 698 953 people have been vaccinated against COVID-19.
