YAFM, the Pulse of the Great Dyke, in association with online television portal Great Dyke TV, are launching the inaugural Great Dyke Mining and Agriculture Awards on the 12th of February 2020.
The awards promote excellence and aim to unlock the growth potential in mining and agricultural companies operating in the mineral rick geological complex called the Great Dyke, which trends from north to south for over 500 kilometres.
Some of the country’s biggest mining entities such as Platinum Group Metal producers Mimosa, Unki and Zimplats are located in the region which also supports vibrant agricultural activities.
Moses Charedzera, Mejrkh Communications and Media Advisory Communication and Public Relations Executive said the awards are borne out of the realisation of the need for tailor-made recognition of the initiatives to attain excellence and outstanding work by mining and agriculture companies operating in the Great Dyke.
“The Great Dyke area is arguably Zimbabwe’s most endowed region in terms of natural resources, particularly minerals. The region is located along the Great Dyke geological complex, which is rich in PGMs. It is also rich in gold, with the wealth generated from mining used to support thriving agricultural enterprises, both large and small scale.
“We introduced the awards after observing that there are no dedicated accolades for mining and agricultural entities operating in the Great Dyke and as a way to stimulate growth and achieve higher production.
“Some of the companies find themselves excluded from national awards held by some organisations yet they play a critical role in the in the economy of the region under the devolution agenda.” he said.
