A 25-year-old man is battling for his life at Gweru Provincial Hospital after being struck by a vehicle while crossing the Kwekwe-Gokwe road on February 1, 2025.
According to a statement from the Midlands Provincial Community Relations Liaison Office, the accident occurred around 3 PM at the 139-kilometre peg. The victim, identified as Sibangi Makaza of Village Matanhu under Chief Nemangwe in Gokwe, was hit by a vehicle driven by 25-year-old Ropafadzo Shati of Village 7, also under Chief Nemangwe. Shati was traveling towards Gokwe with four passengers when the collision happened.
Makaza was rendered unconscious and was initially rushed to Gokwe District Hospital before being transferred to Gweru Provincial Hospital due to the severity of his injuries.
Midlands Provincial Community Relations Liaison Officer , Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko, urged both drivers and pedestrians to exercise extreme caution on the roads to prevent such accidents.
