Man In Court For Hit And Run Accident

A Zvishavane man has appeared before Magistrate courts facing charges of negligent  driving as defined in the traffic  act chapter 13:11.

It was the state’s case that on the 6th October 2020 at around 1545hrs the accused Francis Mushoriwa who resides at C1/13 Maglas Zvishavane was driving a Toyota Fun-cargo with Registration AFG 7039 in Makwasha Zvishavane with no passenger on board.

The court heard that the accused hit the complainant Mugarira who was riding a bicycle and the accused did not stop on the scene to check on what had happened. The complainant sustained bruises and he was medically examined.

The court also heard that the accused was travelling at high speed, failed to keep a proper lookout under the circumstances. He did not go to the police station to report that he was involved in an accident.

The Zvishavane magistrate Archie Wochiunga found the accused guilty as charged, and he was remanded to today for sentencing.

His driver’s licence has been endorsed.
