Matabeleland South Gold Miner Spends More Than A Million On covid-19 Fight

Caledonia Mining Corporation Plc says its Blanket gold mine spent more than a million dollars in 2020 to help assist workers and the surrounding communities in the fight against the covid-19 pandemic.

In an interview CEO Steve Curtis said the miner spent 1.6% of its turnover on covid-19 related issues to ensure the Gwanda community was in a position to fight the pandemic.

The pandemic has so far claimed more than 100 lives in Matabeleland South province alone.

Caledonia Mining recently published its 2020 Environmental, Social and Governance Report, which touches on health and safety, the Zimbabwe labour force, and community relations at the Matabeleland based gold mine.
