Mberengwa District Development Coordinator Vafias Hlabati has hailed the late Chief Mataga as a father figure who spearheaded numerous development projects in his community.
Speaking to Great Dyke News, Hlabati said the chief, who passed away on Sunday, will be laid to rest today.
He said Among his key contributions were the 209-hectare Chamakudo irrigation project—set to be the largest in Midlands Province—and the Mataga Mini Hospital, now awaiting commissioning.
Chief Mataga, who was installed in 2007, is remembered for his commitment to improving the lives of his people.
