In the heart of Zimbabwe’s Great Dyke, Mimosa is poised to elevate the prestigious Chamber of Mines Inter Mines Golf Tournament—affectionately dubbed the Jumbo—to new heights in 2025. Set to unfold on the pristine fairways of Rolland Golf Course in Zvishavane, this flagship event on the Chamber’s annual calendar promises to be a masterclass in both golfing prowess and industry camaraderie. As the defending champions, Mimosa is pulling out all the stops to ensure their home course is in championship condition, ready to challenge the finest swings in the mining sector.
Last Friday, Mimosa hosted a fundraising tournament that turned heads and opened wallets, raising funds to transform Rolland Golf Course into a venue worthy of the Jumbo’s storied legacy. FC Platinum president and Rolland Golf Course stalwart Dr Blessing Garamumhango, a man with a passion for both the game and his community, declared the funds would be laser-focused on course enhancements. He said as the 2024 champions, they are honored to host.
The 18-hole Rolland layout, already a gem in Zvishavane’s crown, is undergoing a meticulous facelift. Club Chairman Dumisani Mapundu outlined an ambitious vision: upgraded irrigation systems to ensure lush, consistent greens, revamped ablution facilities, and a modernized clubhouse to enhance the player experience. An events pavilion is also in the works, promising a post-round oasis for networking or even a wedding under the Zimbabwean sun. “Our goal is to keep Rolland in pristine condition,” Mapundu emphasized. He said with the Jumbo and other tournaments on the horizon, they are crafting a course that will test every club in the bag while showcasing Zvishavane’s hospitality.”
The Jumbo Golf Tournament is more than a battle for bragging rights; it’s a cornerstone of the mining industry’s calendar, where senior executives, managers, and stakeholders trade their hard hats for visors. Beyond the fairways, the event is a crucible for collaboration, fostering discussions on efficiency, procurement, and policy to drive the sector forward. Expect fierce competition from heavyweights like Zimplats, Freda, Rio Zim, Zambezi Gas, Unki, Zimasco, Hwange Colliery, Powercoal, BNC, and How Mine, all vying for the crown and to earn the right to host in 2026.

Mimosa’s triumph at the 2024 Jumbo, hosted by Kuvimba Mining House, has set the stage for a homecoming spectacle. With Rolland’s fairways being sculpted to perfection and Zvishavane’s accommodation ready to welcome players, the 2025 tournament is shaping up to be a hole-in-one for golf and industry alike. As the September showdown approaches, Mimosa is signaling they’re not just ready to host—they’re ready to dominate, both on the scorecard and as gracious hosts of this celebrated mining tradition.
