Miners Associations Employ WhatsApp & Meetings To Ensure A Fatality-Free Rainy Season

These super sized rock trucks are on their way to drop a load of Platinum rich rock into the crusher. These trucks can carry more than 200 tons of rock at a time, and are too large for public roads.

Small-scale mining Associations in the Great Dyke say efforts are being made to ensure the rainy season is fatality and injury free in the mines. They say awareness campaigns have been rolled out in mining areas.

Speaking to Great Dyke news, Zvishavane Mberengwa Miners Association Chairperson, Themba Sibanda said they are always on guard when it comes to the rainy season however, they have been raising awareness campaigns through warning messages on mining WhatsApp group chats as well as consultative meetings to plan and discuss how to go about the rainy season.

Mberengwa Miners Association Chairman, Anderson Tsikira said they have been moving around enlightening the miners on how their shafts should be organized to avoid water from getting in.
