The mines and mining development ministry is optimistic the Mining Cadastral System which is currently being installed in Zimbabwe will be a panacea for most mining sector ills and will make mining title application easier.


Speaking in Zvishavane last month Mines and Mining Development Deputy Minister Polite Kambamura said the cadastral system will eradicate delays and allow miners to apply for titles online.

Mining experts and advocates of good natural resource governance have repeatedly reiterated that the proper implementation and administration of electronic mineral right cadastral systems will greatly improve stakeholder communications, and attraction of investment and ensure transparency of information and significantly reduce the possibility of corruption in the mining sector.


A Cadastral is an up-to-date electronic land information system containing a record of interests on a particular piece of land. It usually includes a geometric description of land parcels and the nature of the interests, ownership or control of those interests.
