The Zimbabwe Republic Police in Masvingo has confirmed the arrest of one male and two female suspects in connection with a murder that occurred late on 27 July 2024. The suspects are Alouis Charles Dhangu Madzemba (25) of Vanyoro Village, Rosemary Gave Tasara (29) of Garapasi Village, and Viola Linia Tasara (34) of Musovi Village.
ZRP Masvingo spokesperson Inspector Kudakwashe Dehwa said the incident took place around 11:00 PM as the now deceased was returning from the Chibuku show held at Mucheke Stadium. The deceased, whose identity has not been disclosed, was traveling with friends Tinoenda Matiyo and Andrew Chapwanya in a commuter omnibus Toyota Hiace.
An altercation arose between the deceased, his friends, and the accused persons during the commute. The confrontation escalated when the group disembarked from the omnibus at Corner Kelvin Manjange Street and Enard Manyimo Gutsa. The deceased was allegedly grabbed by the accused persons who wanted to fight him. One of the suspects then stabbed the deceased with a sharp object below the collarbone.
Despite efforts by the deceased’s friends to assist him, he succumbed to his injuries due to severe bleeding. The incident was promptly reported to the police, leading to an investigation and the subsequent arrest of the three suspects.
The suspects are currently in police custody as investigations continue.
