A Natural Resource watchdog has emphasized the need for a stand-alone policy that can guide the government regarding strategic minerals like Lithium.
In a telephone interview with Great Dyke News, Centre for Natural Resource Governance Founding Director Farai Maguwu said it is strategic for the country to keep its reserves in the ground until the country is ready to extract and gain optimum value out of them.
He added that it is disheartening to see most lithium miners failing to plough back to the communities they operate in.
Zimbabwe is among the major lithium producers that may draw significant benefits from firm global prices and high demand for the precious mineral.
