Parly Committee On Mines Calls For Preferential Treatment On Energy Supply

The Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Mines and Mining Development says it has lobbied for preferential treatment for heavy industries in terms of energy supply.

Speaking to Great Dyke news, the Committee’s Chairperson, Hon. Edmund Mkaratigwa said it is important for the sector to generate electricity but the sector has been affected by different factors.

He however noted that many players have turned to environmentally unfriendly energy generation Mechanisms which are inadvisable.

ZESA’s distribution arm, the ZETDC over the weekend unveiled a countrywide load shedding schedule which it said has been necessitated by its power generation constraints at Hwange Thermal Powerstation.
