Pastor In Court For Maintenance Default

A Zvishavane pastor has appeared before the Zvishavane Magistrate Archie Wochiunga  Court facing charges of maintenance for his six children.

It is the state’s case that on the 11th of December 2020 the accused Chrispen Dzichavakwa (44) of house number 10, Mandava was given a court order by Magistrate Charity Tonongera to pay ZW25 000 -00 per month to Magret Dzichavakwa with effect from 30 June 2021.

The court heard that Dzivakwa failed to comply with the order of the court or in respect of judicial proceeding and as it was his duty to comply.

 Chrispen Dzichavakwa failed to give the complainant 200 000-00rtgs for a period extending from 31 December 2020 to 30 June 2021 knowing that by doing so he impaired the reputation of the court.

During the trial, the essence of the appellant’s defense was that he could not afford to pay the said amount of money since he is relying on offerings from the congregants.
