President Emmerson Mnangagwa has commended the Zimbabwean diaspora for its significant contributions on the global stage, describing them as a source of national pride.
Speaking recently, President Mnangagwa lauded the hard work, resilience, and innovative spirit displayed by Zimbabweans abroad, noting that their efforts have made a substantial impact across various sectors, including business, technology, education, and culture worldwide.
“The diaspora has always been a source of pride for our nation,” President Mnangagwa said. “Your contributions on the global stage are invaluable. Your ethic of hard work, resilience, and innovative spirit has made a significant impact on various sectors, from business and technology to education and culture across the world.”
Mnangagwa highlighted that during his visits abroad, he often receives commendations from foreign leaders regarding the work ethic and efficiency of Zimbabweans living in their countries. “Whenever I talk about the diaspora, I hear good reports and commendations about job efficiency,” he said.
The Zimbabwean diaspora is notably large, with estimates suggesting that over 5 million Zimbabweans—about 30% of the country’s total population—reside outside Zimbabwe. Major communities are located in South Africa, the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, and the United States.
