Despite grappling with low pay and various challenges, school heads across the country are expressing pride in the commendable pass rates achieved in the Zimsec O-level exams.
In an interview with Great Dyke News, Munyaradzi Majoni credited the success to the collective hard work and dedication of school heads, as well as the unwavering commitment of teachers.
Majoni emphasized that the positive results underscore the potential for even greater achievements if schools are provided with the necessary resources and support. He said a primary concern for school heads is the urgent need for a pay raise that reflects the significance of their role and the challenges they encounter.
Highlighting the crucial role of proper compensation, Majoni stressed that without fair remuneration, sustaining the delivery of high-quality education becomes increasingly challenging.
Despite working in demanding conditions, school heads were able to secure a high pass rate in the recent exams.
Moreover, Majoni and his counterparts are urging the government to address the longstanding issue of low teacher salaries. They argue that inadequate pay makes it difficult to attract and retain skilled educators, ultimately jeopardizing the overall quality of education.
