Tensions ran high at Rujeko Primary School last Saturday when a group of youth, allegedly led by Masvingo City Ward 10 Councillor Sengerai Manyanga, disrupted the School Development Committee (SDC) Annual General Meeting (AGM).
According to parents who attended the meeting, the disruption was aimed at influencing the election process to secure the SDC chairperson position for Patience Mapfumo, reportedly a member of the same political party.
Eyewitnesses described chaotic scenes as the youth allegedly attempted to take control of proceedings, creating an atmosphere of intimidation. Concerned parents intervened, determined to prevent external political interference in the school’s affairs.
“We were shocked by the way they stormed the meeting, trying to impose their candidate on us. This is a school matter, and politics should not be involved,” said one parent who requested anonymity.
