Tobias Chidavaenzi (54) and Leonard Muzenda (24) have been arraigned before the Chiredzi Magistrates’ Court, facing nine counts of armed robbery. The duo committed a spate of robberies at various business centers around Chiredzi between January 9, 2024, and February 25, 2024.
Armed with a Revolver Taurus pistol, they terrorized shop owners, targeting cash, cellphones, groceries, and household property. A police investigation led to their arrest and the recovery of the firearm used in the crimes.
The accused persons were sentenced to 70 years, with 5 years suspended on condition of good behavior. They will serve 65 years effectively.
