Shabanie Mashava Mines Housing Wrangle Continues, Gaths mine former workers Evicted

The long-running wrangle between Shabanie Mashava Mine and its former workers over salary arrears and houses this week took a new turn with former workers and their families at Gaths Mine, Mashava being evicted from the house the Mine has already sold to Great Zimbabwe University.

The evicted families told the media that they have been left out in the cold and the former employer is silent about the money they are owed. They said they fear their children will fall sick in the cold.

Responding to questions from the media on the matter, Great Zimbabwe University spokesperson Anderson Chipatiso said the houses were sold to the institution in 2012 and the evicted persons were given ample time to vacate.
