Suspended Jail Term For Mberengwa Thief

A 34-year-old Mberengwa manĀ  has been handed a suspended 3 month jail term after being found guilty of theft as defined in section 113 of the criminal law codification and reform act chapter 9:23.

It was state’s case that on 9th of June 2021 at around 1440hours at Tees Market Investment Zvishavane the accused stole took 6 by 400ml lotion. The accused also took 2 by 400ml and stashed them in his trousers and he exited the shop.

He returned later and took the same lotions.

The court heard that the accused was caught at the 3rd time stealing and this was shown on a CCTV.

The total value of property stolen amounts to ZW$1404 and only ZW$468 was recovered.

Zvishavane magistrate Archie Wochiunga found the accused guilty as charged and sentenced him to 3 months in prison with 2 months suspended for 3 years on condition of good behaviour and 1 month also suspended on condition he restitutes ZW$1036.
