The ZRP has confirmed a fire incident where a tanker which was carrying sulphuric acid caught fire at the 293 km peg along Beitbridge – Bulawayo Road.
In a statement the ZRP said the driver had stopped to attend to the vehicle rear wheel which was binding.
It indicated that no one was injured.
Fire incidents involving trucks have been on the increase in the region in recent months, last month more than 10 people died when a gas tanker exploded after getting stuck under a bridge in South Africa.
