UNAIDS Executive Director, Winnie Byanyima says the world has agreed on a bold plan that, if leaders fulfil it, will end AIDS by 2030.
She however warned that AIDS remains a pandemic and only by moving fast to end the inequalities that drive the pandemic can the world overcome it.
She added that with leaders who are acting boldly and together, bringing together cutting-edge science, delivering services that meet all people’s needs, protecting human rights and sustaining adequate financing, AIDS-related deaths and new HIV infections are becoming rare.
UNAIDS data showS that if we the world carry on as it is, we will have 12 million extra deaths over the next 10 years than if we delivered on the bold strategy in full.
