Preparations for the 8th edition of the Nedbank Tour de Great Dyke are gathering momentum, with seasoned cyclists Tapson Gore and Roderick Shumba urging fellow riders across Zimbabwe and beyond to take part in the annual event set for 6 to 8 November 2025.
The three-day Tour will cover the scenic and mineral-rich Great Dyke route from Selous to Zvishavane, passing through Chegutu, Kadoma, Kwekwe, Gweru, and Shurugwi. This year’s edition carries the theme “Riding for Opportunity, Wellness and Charity” and is expected to attract 300 cyclists, including participants from Mozambique.
Veteran cyclist Roderick Shumba, who has been cycling for over a decade, said cycling offers immense physical and mental health benefits.
“Cycling keeps the body fit, strengthens the mind, and helps relieve stress. Events like the Nedbank Tour de Great Dyke remind us that sport can bring people together for a good cause while improving wellness,” Shumba said.
Tapson Gore, another experienced rider, shared that this year’s event will be extra special for him as he rides alongside his son for the first time.
“It’s an honour to share this journey with my son — from Selous to Zvishavane. The Tour is not just about endurance; it’s about family, unity, and the spirit of the Great Dyke,” Gore said.
The Nedbank Tour de Great Dyke, organized by YAFM in partnership with Nedbank Zimbabwe, aims to promote wellness, investment, and social impact in mining communities. Proceeds from the event will support the Gifted Children Foundation, which helps talented but underprivileged children across the Great Dyke access education and mentorship.
