Vugwi Bottle Wielding Fighters in Court

By Pamela Machida

Two Zvishavane men have appeared before the Zvishavane Magistrate’s court facing charges of disorderly conduct as defined in section 61 of the criminal law codification and reform act chapter 9:23.

It was the state’s case that the accused Rest Rusere (21) and Evans Sibanda (20) caused mayhem at Vugwi Business Centre where a fight broke and the two attacked each other with broken bottles.

The court heard that on the 6th of October this year at the Vugwi business centre, the duo unlawfully and intentionally acted in a disorderly and violent manner disturbing the peace.

Rusere pleaded guilty to the charge but in his defence stated that Sibanda was the one that started the fight over a 2016 misunderstanding. Sibanda however accused Sibanda of starting the melee.

Zvishavane Magistrate Charity Tonongera found the accused Rusere guilty as charged and ordered him to pay a ZW$5000 fine. Failure to pay will see him spend 20days behind bars.
