A woman from Mberengwa, Sunungurai Chinyoka, has been convicted of murder by the High Court sitting in Gweru. The conviction stems from a violent altercation that took place on June 29, 2016, when Chinyoka, then 30 years old, attacked and fatally wounded a 35-year-old woman.

According to court proceedings, the victim, who was identified as the partner of Chinyoka’s husband, was en route to a school meeting when she encountered Chinyoka. The confrontation escalated quickly when Chinyoka accused the victim of an affair with her spouse. In a fit of rage, Chinyoka produced an Okapi knife and inflicted multiple stab wounds on the victim. She stabbed the victim three times in the abdomen, once below the left breast, and once on the neck. Additionally, Chinyoka stabbed the victim in the thigh before fleeing the scene, leaving the knife embedded in the wound.
