As Ya FM celebrates nine years of broadcasting, MERJKH Communications Chairman, Mr. Munyaradzi Hwengwere, has commended the station’s role in giving the Great Dyke region a platform that had long been absent.
Speaking to Great Dyke News, Hwengwere emphasized the impact the media house has made in representing one of Zimbabwe’s most economically significant areas.
Reflecting on the broadcaster’s journey, Hwengwere highlighted how, before Ya FM’s inception, the Great Dyke—despite being home to major mining operations—lacked radio or television transmission services. “Prior to Ya FM, this vital region had no media coverage, no way to share its stories, challenges, or successes. This was despite the Great Dyke’s crucial contribution to the Zimbabwean economy,” he said.
Hwengwere emphasized that Ya FM will continue to grow its footprint, ensuring that every town, city, district, and ward within the region is reached.
“We are committed to expanding our reach, ensuring that the Great Dyke is not only heard locally but also recognized for its significance nationally,” Hwengwere affirmed.
