Zambia plans to increase copper production to over 1 million tons in 2025, up from 720,000 tons in 2024, by strengthening ties with the UAE and Saudi Arabia.

International Resources Holding (IRH) of Abu Dhabi has already raised Mopani Mine’s output by 32% and targets 150,000 tons this year. Zambia also signed an MoU with Saudi Arabia to collaborate on mineral resources, with officials expecting further investment.

Despite concerns over power shortages, Zambia remains confident, citing upcoming solar plants and surplus supply from Tanzania.
