ZELA Speaks On The Need To Expedite Cadastre System Implementation

The Zimbabwe Environmental Law Association says there is need to expedite the implementation of the mining cadastre system which will be key to safeguarding mine claim ownership and end conflicts that have often seen women lose their claims.

ZELA Programmes Officer Joyce Machiri said the Ministry has been working on the full implementation of this game-changing system but the work has to be expedited.

She highlighted that the old system that is still in use in other provinces has seen some women lose their claims even after remitting and abiding by all the legal requirements.
