The initiative aims to electrify rural schools, clinics, irrigation schemes, and various community facilities, ensuring that even the most remote areas benefit from reliable power. This extensive grid expansion is part of a broader strategy to enhance rural development and improve the quality of life for Zimbabweans living in these areas.

In addition to the grid expansion, ZESA is launching a parallel effort to boost digital connectivity through the installation of fiber optic cables. This dual approach seeks to integrate energy and data infrastructure, facilitating not only power access but also improved internet services and communication capabilities.

Dr. Gata emphasized that the program represents a major step towards achieving universal electricity access and fostering sustainable rural development. The initiative is expected to create numerous job opportunities and support local manufacturing industries involved in producing the necessary infrastructure for the grid expansion.
