Dr. Tonderai Chikande, Zimplats Ventilation Manager and a leading expert in mining engineering, has been appointed President of the Mine Ventilation Society of Zimbabwe (MVSZ) at its Annual General Meeting and Conference in Masvingo. Dr. Chikande, known for his contributions to ventilation practices, takes over from outgoing President Joshua Tigere of Unki Mines.
Under his leadership, MVSZ is expected to promote best practices and foster innovation within Zimbabwe’s ventilation sector. Industry peers have praised Dr. Chikande’s dedication and leadership, viewing his appointment as a positive step for advancing the field.
The new executive includes Vice President Robert Chirwa (Unki Mines), Secretary General Ndinotendaishe Zihove (Unki Mines), and Treasurer Andrew Mapfumo (Zimplats), who retains his position.
