The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) is set to immediately establish roadblocks along all major highways as part of an intensified government-led anti-smuggling initiative. The campaign, which seeks to tackle the growing influx of illegal and counterfeit goods, is a critical step toward safeguarding the local economy and protecting domestic industries.
Speaking in Harare, Engineer Tafadzwa Muguti, Permanent Secretary for Presidential Affairs in the Office of the President, underscored the urgency of implementing stricter enforcement measures.
He noted that smuggled goods not only undermine legitimate businesses but often consist of counterfeit items that can harm both consumers and local production.
